She is throwing discus & shot, or trying to...Anyway, we were lucky enough to get a parking spot close to the discus area, and since there was still a trace of snow on the ground and it was slighly cool Barbie & I decided to sit in the car until it was time for Skipper to throw. Barbie notices this lady with bright red sweat like pants and with a poop green jacket, so we were already making fun of her for her color choices. Shes on the phone, then we notice that she is crying hard. Musta been a bad phone call. Then a young girl comes up with this guy, she tells the girl, the guy like escapes as fast as he can. Crying women and a teenager, he obviously didn't want any part of it. (Can't blame him) She gets on the phone again, talking pretty loudly, waving her arms, dropping the F bomb and she's now right beside our car, we couldn't help but hear, EVERYTHING.

Evidently, on their way to the track meet, they got a call - her, Kenny (her husband) and Kenny's parents that this girl, Melanie, (Kenny's sister) had overdosed, was coding and died. And she (Melanie)had a two week old baby. So Kenny literally drops her off in the street and leave with his parents to return where they came from. The lady (Have since found out her name is Jenn- I now know way too much about this family) goes on to say This situation has been 12 years in the making, i'm not planning the f'ing funeral, i'm not taking the baby, our lives are not going to stop for this, we have basketball on Sunday and school on Monday and then she'd say I don't know what i'm suppose to do. All the time waving her arms, talking loudly, making a scene.

Okay, I get the situation is upsetting to say the least, I understand the whole range of emotions that hit when you get some horrible news, but I kept thinking what I would be doing if I was her and i'm thinking, first of all, I would have gone across the street to make my phone calls for some privacy, and not played it all out in front of strangers and I know I wouldn't have been using the F bomb where people could here me at a middle school track meet with kids everywhere! She was so making the drama about herself! People that knew her, where then coming up to her and asking and as she explain and went on her rant you could just see their faces glaze over and at the first opportunity they would get the hell out of there! I have since found the Obit for this gal and she was only 26 years old with a two week old baby, and her husband lived out of state so I'm thinking her life wasn't real stable.

I feel a little guilty about the way we were making fun of her, but it was better than any of the drama on the reality shows on tv!Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-8088422535179917132011-03-10T15:06:00.004-06:002011-03-11T14:22:35.174-06:00Nickel & DimingIn January we spent $115.14 & 211.04 on Barbie's car for a window switch and a water pump; and in the last 30 days:

Hubby had a low tire, so he took his pickup to the repair shop and got an oil change while it was there $48.97

Then my "low oil" light came on, I have no idea why, but it was time to have my oil changed anyway $31.63.

Barbie comes and gets me out of bell choir at church, she slid on ice and hit her back wheel on the curp. Cracked. $53.41 for a new wheel and $111.07 for the repairs.

Then the other morning as i'm backing out of the drive right behind hubby and he stops at the end of the drive way blocking me in and I was instantly ticked about what in the heck he was doing. I had a flat. Flat flat, on the rim flat. $18.51

Last Tuesday, I left work for the night, got in my car, click click click. Won't start - Crap! We are going to Lincoln on Thursday for State basketball tournaments. I was told probably just a battery. A new alternator and $325.51 later we got to Lincoln & back, twice.

This Tuesday, I had catored my work's monthly lunch meeting and a trunk full of roaster & crock pots. Left for the day, click click click. Just great! And now it needs a battery $78.55. Oh and the radio & clock that I have been mentioning for YEARS that stays on after I shut off the engine and have ALWAYS been told "oh that clock doesn't pull that much from the battery" all of sudden needs to be replaced because of the pull on the battery.

Wednesday, some JackWagon, backs into Barbie's car, smashing the headlight and causing a nice dent in the hood and drives away! She filed a police report and we are hoping that the "cameras" at the school got it recorded. The school did not call me back and the police officer said sometimes it's not the right angle and it's spring break so school won't be open now until Monday.

So far this year we have spent just under $1,000 on vehicle repairs! Following last summer when we spent $1,200 to have the motor replaced in my car.

Seriously, what's next?Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-36533883406412552382011-02-24T15:59:00.003-06:002011-02-27T14:29:23.765-06:00Uptodate lifeI know it's been awhile since I posted. Everyday, I think today, i'm going to post, then the day is over and I didn't get anything written. Plus I really stink when it comes to writing. So to get everyone up-to-date with my life here are a list of the highlights in no particular order:

1) I got a different position at my job. Bascially i'm still doing everything I had been doing, but now I sit at the reception desk and answer the phone too. They let 4 people go, which has NEVER happened in the 20 years I have worked there, so basically I'm just happy that I still have a job!

2) Still working 2 jobs, and the baking for hire as picked up; which is good, but keeps me hopping.

3) Hubby & I had an altercation with a young man who tried to be forceful with Barbie. (which translates to wouldn't let her leave, had her pinned down to the bed with unwanted advances) Long story short, hubby knocked him around a little bit and the spineless @#%^$ ran right to the cop shop to report "his" assult. Luckily the officer that responded hubby played softball with this summer. We had issues with this same boy a couple years ago that we could have, probably should have pressed charges on him then, but for many reasons didn't. Barbie was the 2nd girl he has done this to that there are police reports on. Who know how many went unreported. We have alot of support from law enforcement, who confidentially told hubby that they wish he wouldn't have stopped hitting him, and many fathers that told us they would have done the same in that situation. Not that all that makes us feel any better about the whole situation. Hubby's charges got plead down to disturbing the peace, $100 fine. Well worth it for the safety of our daughter .

4) Hubby & I are in the beginning stages of buying out his boss. His boss, mostly the boss's wife, wants to semi-retire and hubby is at the point that he needs to take that next step in his career. So I hope it all works out, but i'm not making any plans until the ink has dryed on the purchase agreement.

5) Skipper played both volleyball & basketball with her school team this year. She really surprised us with her basketball. My mild, even tempered girl was an agressive little machine out the ball court! Barbie played voleyball, cheer & dance teams.

6) Everything just keeps moving along, for me there seems like is no time for anything. Even cleaning my house sometimes. I always feel like i'm playing catch up. I feel like I am stressed out all the time. I haven't discussed this with hubby yet, but if the purchase of the business doesn't go through then we will need to make a drastic move concerning our debt because I just can't continue to work 2 jobs much longer. Life is too short.

7) I signed up for that post a day thing, but you can see how well that worked out for me.....

I'm sure I have forgotten more than I have posted.Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-15082320019488014772010-12-31T13:34:00.002-06:002010-12-31T13:37:44.810-06:00KINDLE OR NOOK?

Which do you prefer & why? And it's going to keep me pinned to the ground for a few weeks and just when I think things will look up it will be there to nock me down again. I'm not going to go into any details, just that I could really use a hug and maybe some of June's wine.Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-85314000630203577832010-08-18T06:44:00.002-05:002010-08-18T06:54:35.813-05:00Wednesday Walk
These are just a few things I saw while walking this week and quick snapped a pic with my phone.

the clouds, they looked like smoke balls and I started to worry I was going to get wet during this walk. I was invited but just couldn't justify the expense on my budget, but now I wish included.

Barbie left this morning to go with the family that she babysits alot for to go to the rodeo up in north western Nebraska. This will be Barbie first real experience. The little girls will be barrel racing, i think. So she's gone. For the weekend, having fun, without me.

I worked this morning. Got to work with a good friend and we had a good b i t c h session.

Hubby has been working on our downstairs bathroom FOREVER! It's so close. I finally said it MUST be done before school starts (on Tuesday) or I was going to unleash an attitude he's never seen before. So when I got home from work hubby & his friend (wife went to WOF) were working in the shower to get it ready to grout BUT he wants hubby to go with him & his kids to go play golf - did I mention that he has been siding his house for 3 years and wants hubby to help him - - They are suppose to finish tonight when they get back.

So that just leaves me, home alone, feeling sorry for myself, wishing I had something fun to do too.

Ok enough whinning, i'll put my big girl panties on now.Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-26201010839547018722010-08-11T10:31:00.005-05:002010-08-11T11:54:20.059-05:00Losing my mindThis is an example of how I am completely losing my mind.......

I can't remember if i put on deodorant this morning. Well it was that Monday, President's Day or Washington's Birthday whatever that last holiday was that I got the day off. And the girls got out of school at 1:30 that day; so we headed to Kearney to catch the matinee. I was wanting to see "Valentine's Day" but the show times were not right, so we went to "Dear John" instead. I had kinda wanted to read the book first, but didn't get that done. It, the movie, was a tear jerker. All 3 of us cried. But i've heard that the book ends diffently than the movie.

So today we had an employee lunch meeting at work. 1/2 of us for an early lunch the other half for a later lunch. I went early then I had to go to our other location to cover so those gals could go the main bank for the meeting.

Anyway.......

laying there on their couch thing was the "Dear John" book. So I was like hmm I wonder how much of the book is different. So I started skimming through; this part is pretty close; this part is the same; a few differences here & there. I kept skimming until I got to the end. And i'm not going to say what was different, don't want to ruin it for anyone else, but, sniff, i was 'bout in tears from that ending too! If i'd had time to actually read the book I know I would have been bawling like a baby!

The movie is now playing in our hometown theatre this weekend and I'm so gonna try to drag hubby there and see it again!Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-41015582355821822912010-01-01T00:40:00.000-06:002010-01-01T00:41:05.787-06:00
Happy New Year!!
Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-3506834640784279442009-12-26T10:32:00.001-06:002009-12-26T10:38:43.932-06:00Blizzard - round 2<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5419584822965317810" style="DISPLAY: block; (she'll kill me for posting this pic) There was a "happy" (aka drunk) couple behind us. They came in the 2nd qtr. Talking F this F that and I made a face at Tink and kinda rolled my eyes and the guy says are you listening to us talk and i'm like ya, kinda hard not to. So then they talked to us the rest of the game - of course they were only there for tne 2nd & 4th qtrs. Something was said, I can't remember what, and he asks Tink how old she is. 16 she replys and he's like No Way! Then he turns to me and says How old are you and I say I'm older than that to which Tink quickly says She's my mom. And he was like No way, you don't look like you could be the mom and he hits the girl he's with and says She's the mom! and the girl looks at me and says No way. So the whole rest of the game they kept saying you don't look like the mom. So I decided their drunk a$$ could stay!

We had a good day and it helped that our team won! I'm in the process of making cookies (i know shock right) I've got 53 dz to do by next week and 5 different places that they go. I had to make myself a spread sheet to keep it all straight. A few weeks ago I had made these Maple cookies & left them to sit on island overnight so the frosting could set and when I woke in the morning this is what I found.

The dog had eaten 2 dz cookies during the night. Two days?! I made two coffee cakes last night and got up at 5 am to put in the oven but she didn't even go because she has the flu! But those dancers didn't go hungry, Hubby dropped them off. There has been something every night! And on the few nights that we didn’t actually have to go somewhere I was busy in the kitchen baking or whatever to get ready for the next activity. It has just been extremely overwhelming!

Tink’s had volleyball games about 2 nights a week. It’s not really been a good season. Tink plays JV Reserve and some JV and those girls have been getting some wins and you can really see those girls meshing together as a team. At the beginning of the season it was like “Oi”. But the Varsity. Those girls never have gotten their stuff together. And talk about a bunch of nasty be otches. Those girls sat in the bleachers during a JV reserve game and were telling the girls to pull their spanks (shorts) down and calling them sluts, skanks, & whores. This has pretty much been going on the whole season, just usually not so bold. These girls have made it not a fun experience for many of the girls and Tink’s thinking about not going out next year, but we’ll see….time will tell.

Tink also turned 16 this month. Lord help me!! I think I started a draft of pictures of her cake, but didn’t get it finished. She’s been driving everywhere! We’ve lost all control!!

Tonight is the last cake decorating class. I’ve been taking Rolled Fondant & Gumpaste class at Hobby Lobby . So I spend I spend 2 ½ hours on the road for a 2 hour class once a week. I know I’m crazy, somebody just admit me now!

There’s also been volleyball team supper that I organized and made 12 pounds of meatballs for. Then it was my turn (and another lady) to feed the cheerleaders this month. We did a baked potato bar – which luckily she took care of, so all I had to do was make some salads and I did some Halloween cupcakes. And working the 2nd job, Oh and I’ve also started selling AVON, because I didn’t have enough to do already. This week has been crazy – I’ve had 21 dz cookies to get ready; a cake to bake & cover with fondant and make my flowers for class; and bus treats for the volleyball team. (I made chex mix).

I am hope that November will not be so overwhelming. At least so that I can take a breath without ripping someone else’s head off – or at least my husbands!

I’ve had a few things that have happened and I think Oh I’m so going to blog about this, and then I never get around to it and I forget what it was, so sorry you guys have missed some really stupid, crazy, funny stories because I have the memory of an ant. I’ll try to do better ~

Oh and on a serious note, this week we went to the funeral of a good friend, the kind of guy that you spend a few minutes with him and your best friends. Anyway, he got H1N1, his lungs filled and he couldn't get past it. His funeral was Tuesday. It was a hard day. Dave was a fire man in his little town that he lived and at the cemetery they did a "Last Pager Call" when all of the the pagers went off and the dispatch called out last pager call for Dave So&So. And I was doing so good no more tears, then I turned my head, I didn't mean to look, that just what was in my line of vision and saw a man, older than me, fighting for his composure and I just lost it. There's just something about seeing a strong tough man struggling with this loss.

So friends , PLEASE wash wash wash your hands, keep them off your face and please please please see a competent doctor if start feeling sick.Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1229776609041929245.post-64012619803625423152009-09-21T08:45:00.003-05:002009-09-21T09:01:54.119-05:00yaa yaa yaaYaa yaa yaa...! I know I haven't been around here much, okay at all, but i've been lurking at all your sights. Saying I've been busy seems like a lame excuse and it is, but I have been and with a total lack of creative juices to write anything that doesn't sound like a bunch of dreaded dribble. My biggest problem is that by the time I have 2 minutes to write up a blog, i've forgotten what it was I was going to talk about.

So take today for instance, i'm extremely tired after working the weekend (& dealing with the wacked out druggie last night) and completely overwhelmed to the upcoming busy week so everything in my head is not the upbeat perkiness I would like to portray. In fact I would like to just stick my tongue out and tell a couple people where they can go.

So you guys ask me a question. Maybe that will get me back in the swing .Traciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18186386640495846762noreply@blogger.com4
